Family First Health is seeking a Dental Billing Specialist for our a onsite position in our Downtown York, PA office. Candidates should have a working knowledge of dental terminology and be computer proficient or have the ability to learn. As a Dental Billing Specialist at Family First Health, candidates will be responsible for assisting Dental Billing with the creation of claims for all 5 Dental sites with additional responsibilities as listed below.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Participates in billing and collections of claims to both insurance companies and patients in order to achieve optimal accounts in a timely manner.
- Ensures insurance verifications are completed prior to scheduled office visits except when front desk adds in an appointment after they have received the verified schedule.
- Ensures charges, payments and adjustments are accurately posted to the billing system by front desk staff.
- Submits dental claims daily for completed encounters.
- Enters payments received into the billing system using the appropriate discounts and contractual allowances to patient accounts.
- Works denials from insurance companies to determine how the claim should be edited to obtain payment.
- Participates in training of new employees on dental billing functions at all Family First Health locations.
- Analyzes accounts receivable reports from the billing system to identify aging account balances.
- Understands and communicates the Sliding Fee Policy and procedure to staff and patients as needed.
- Sends letters or directly contacts patients and insurance carriers to resolve aging account balances.
- Processes patient and insurance refunds in a timely manner.
- Informs and assists patients in obtaining Care Credit.
- Meets with patients in person or over the telephone as requested to provide assistance with billing questions.
- Assists patients by delivering excellent customer service while ensuring problem resolution.
- Documents patient complaints and incidents as required.
- Attends and actively participates in departmental/organizational meetings as required.
- Complies with HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Assists with sorting through Dental Mail to direct Prior Authorization responses to appropriate offices, address Insurance denials, and other remittances.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years’ prior work experience in a dental office with Billing/Coding experience or completion of a Billing/Coding Class
- Knowledge of computer software applications (Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, others).
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation as it relates to correspondence necessary to perform essential job functions.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
