Role Description The Medication Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbia, MD, responsible for safely administering medications to residents in accordance with physician orders and state regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include documenting medication administration, monitoring residents for side effects or changes in condition, and promptly reporting concerns to nursing and leadership staff. The role also involves assisting with vital signs, supporting residents with daily living activities, and providing companionship to promote a calm, supportive environment. The Medication Technician collaborates closely with caregivers, families, and clinical staff to ensure each resident receives attentive, person-centered care that aligns with Family First Haven’s values.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and care teams.
  • Knowledge of medicine administration and ability to accurately follow medication orders and protocols.
  • Experience with vital signs monitoring and basic health observations.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent direct care credential preferred; Maryland Medication Technician certification required or eligibility to obtain.
  • Prior experience in assisted living, memory care, or senior care strongly beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site full time, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to resident safety and dignity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in geriatric or dementia care is a plus.
