We cater to our customers' needs by supplying a wide variety of products in departments such as tools, hardware, automotive, pet, work and casual clothing, footwear, farm supplies, horse and livestock feed, bird food, lawn and garden, and alternative heating.

The Product Merchant will serve as a key member of the Family Farm & Home merchandising team and will be responsible for ownership of an assigned category of business. Leading the strategic direction and execution of all core merchandising functions including assortment, pricing, customer experience, marketing, inventory planning, and vendor partnership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Promote Family Farm & Home mission statement and family values.
- Responsible for all key metrics of an assigned category of business, including but not limited to Sales, Margin, Inventory, and Return on Investment.
- Gain a detailed knowledge of the industry and competition to ensure that Family Farm & Home is positioned as the retailer of choice for the targeted customer demographics.
- Lead the development of balanced assortments focused on the lifestyle needs of the Family Farm & Home Customer.
- Strategically manage pricing with a focus on maximizing profitability and providing value for the Family Farm & Home Customer.
- Develop a best in class customer experience through in-store merchandising and website content management.
- Develop advertising plans that drive profitable sales while utilizing all marketing channels.
- Drive costs out of the business through a commitment to vendor negotiation and strategic purchasing.
- Partner with the inventory team to maximize return on investment through strategic inventory management.
- Work cross functionally with key internal partners to manage timelines and move merchandising projects forward.
- Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent retail experience required.
- 3-5 years of experience in a retail inventory or merchandising role.
- 5 years of experience in the retail industry.
- Enthusiasm, Initiative and passion for retail.
- Confidence in negotiation, networking, and building relationships.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask and stay organized.
- Office computer skills; able to learn company systems and tools, preference for Microsoft and Google applications experience.
