We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. This position involves a variety of tasks, including assisting with patient examinations, managing front desk operations, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the office. Responsibilities

  • Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring the examination room is organized.
  • Manage front desk operations, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and handling patient inquiries.
  • Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity checks and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Handle medical coding and billing processes to ensure proper documentation and insurance claims.
  • Provide information on optical products and services to patients, assisting them in making informed choices.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Support retail sales by promoting eyewear products and accessories available in the practice.
  • Work effectively with pediatric patients, ensuring their comfort during visits.

Experience

  • Previous experience in an optometric or medical office setting is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.
  • Experience with medical coding and billing processes is advantageous.
  • Retail sales experience is beneficial, particularly in an optical or healthcare-related field.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques is a plus to maintain hygiene standards within the practice.
  • A background in pediatrics can enhance interactions with younger patients.
