Position Summary
The Optician is responsible for assisting patients in selecting eyewear, accurately interpreting prescriptions, fitting and adjusting frames, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience from start to finish. The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping people see and look their best.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens treatments based on their prescription, lifestyle, and budget.
- Interpret and fill eyeglass prescriptions accurately.
- Take precise optical measurements, including pupillary distance (PD) and segment heights.
- Adjust, repair, and fit eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and vision.
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care.
- Process orders and communicate with optical laboratories to ensure timely delivery.
- Verify completed eyewear meets prescription and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Assist with inventory management, merchandising, and keeping the optical dispensary clean and organized.
- Order contact lenses
- Deliver exceptional customer service while building long-term patient relationships.
- Support the front office as needed with scheduling appointments, insurance verification, and patient check-in/check-out.
- Pre-test patients before eye exams.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous optician or optical retail experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR) and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of vision insurance plans and benefits.
- Experience with frame adjustments and minor repairs.
- Sales experience with a consultative, patient-first approach.

Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday: 10 am - 6 pm
- Tuesday: 9 am - 5 pm
- Wednesday: 10 am - 6 pm
- Thursday: 10 am - 6 pm
- Friday: 9 am - 2 pm
