Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our Family Eye Care team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in providing high-quality patient care, performing various clinical tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the practice. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as experience in patient care and front desk operations.
Duties
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and conducting preliminary tests.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in medical records.
- Assist in greeting patients and managing appointments.
- Provide information about contact lenses and assist with retail sales of contact lenses and basic help with eyewear.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure a clean working environment.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and post-examination instructions.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with the optometric team to enhance patient experience and satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye is preferred.
- Experience in front desk operations or retail sales is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical records management.
- Ability to perform preliminary testing accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and service.
- Proficiency in retail math for assisting with contact lens and eyewear sales.
- Aseptic technique knowledge is beneficial for maintaining hygiene standards.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
