Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting dental conditions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems).
- Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
- Operate dental equipment such as radiography units for medical imaging, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review medical records for documentation accuracy, medical coding, and treatment planning purposes.
- Support the dental team with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow during procedures while maintaining a professional environment.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current state certification.
- Proven experience in general dentistry with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in dental software applications such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix EMR systems.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology.
- Experience with medical imaging techniques and vital signs monitoring is highly desirable.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards related to patient privacy and medical records management.
