Job Summary
The Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS) is a critical member of our team, responsible for providing direct, personalized, and proactive support to children and youth experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. This role focuses on delivering services in the client's home and community setting to restore essential daily functioning and promote long-term stability within the family unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Skill Building & Symptom Management: Provide direct, individualized support to children to assist with homework, prepare for events, and teach essential life skills (e.g., self-awareness, rational decision-making, and positive social interaction).
- Resource Coordination & System Navigation: Serve as an expert in resource coordination, actively seeking effective solutions, and helping clients and families navigate complex systems.
- Community and Home-Based Support: Deliver personalized support directly to the child in the community, providing necessary assistance and intervention to address feelings of being overwhelmed by daily expectations.
- Crisis and Stabilizing Support: As a member of a team you will occasionally be on call to assist families in crisis or provide stabilizing support during difficult times.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in weekly team meetings to proactively discuss personalized strategies, assess daily functioning, and accurately evaluate milestones.
- Family Focus: Work collaboratively with family members to strengthen and improve patterns of interaction within the familial system to foster the greatest long-term stability and growth.
- Program Participation: Facilitate or assist with valuable monthly Group Activities designed to provide essential skill learning and positive social interaction for children.
Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)
- Must meet the criteria for a Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS) in the state of Ohio.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direct, home, and community-based services to youth.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with expertise in navigating complex systems and resource coordination.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including participation in the 24/7 crisis rotation.
