What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Intervention Services In-Home Counselor (BHIS) position at Family Connections, Inc.?
Workers provide BHI Services(skill teaching) through the managed care organizations in Iowa to clients with a diagnosed mental health condition. The goal to teach the individual and family how to effectively deal with the symptoms of the diagnosed mental disorder.
A worker sets up appointments with the family and meets with them for the designated amount of time. Most appointments are in the afternoon/evening and weekends due to most clients being school age. Workers also develop a treatment plan, work toward goals and complete progress notes following each session.
There is flexibility with scheduling based on the client availability.
Job Type:
- Build to full-time
- This position starts slow at part-time hours with the expectation of being full-time within your first 90 days of hire.
- Afternoon / Evenings & weekend availability
Compensation:
- Part-time hours will be paid at $34.62/direct hour
- Once you build full-time hours, your salary will be $45,000/year
- Ex: Direct hours (Seeing the client) are paid out at $34.62/ hr. Once you build your caseload up and are able to bill our minimum of 23 direct hours per week you move into a full-time position of base pay 45,000/yr. A perk of our company is that anything billed over your 23 direct hour minimum per week is paid in addition to your full time pay already. For example- If in the pay period I needed 46 hours and I billed 49 I would be paid my baseline pay my 3 additional hours at $34.62/hr. The indirect amount of $21.63 is what you get paid for training time as well as staff meetings/BHIS meetings until you hit full-time status.
Requirements/Education
In order to provide BHI Services in the State of Iowa, all employees must have a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas:
- Criminal Justice
- Social Work
- Human Services
- Psychology
- Childhood Education
Employees must have a valid Driver's License (due to the likelihood of transporting clients from time to time), and own their own vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
