Principal Duties
- Implementing and evaluating active programs and support plans for the individuals.
- Preparing meals and assisting with feeding as needed for the individuals
- Performing direct care services to include personal hygiene care, toileting, or dressing.
- Participating in and monitoring individuals to their activities or classroom time for training, or life skills training
- Supervising the individuals to ensure safety of self, others, and property are maintained
- Understanding the developmental needs of each individual
- Coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping individuals to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Observing, reporting and documenting the behavior of the individuals
- Follow routine schedules and support plan for each individual
- Show compassion, reliability and provide excellent care
- Display excellent communication skills and positive attitude
- Properly manage aggressive, self-abusive, and non-compliant individuals, and be able to implement and follow prescribed behavioral program plan
- Have the ability to lift, transfer, pull or push up to 70 pounds. Knowledge of using assistive devices
- Providing transport to and from day program or activity location
Experience Required:
Caregiving, CNA, Health Aide: 2 years
CPR/First Aid Certification
SOAR/MANDT Certification
Drivers License
Summary
As a Direct Support/Caregiver Professional, you will be essential in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in various settings, including day programs, clients' home, group homes, or when out in the community. Your core skills in caregiving will be complemented by your premium skills in patient observation, first aid, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). You will report to a supervisor and be expected to communicate effectively with clients and their families. Your relevant experience in long-term care and social work will enhance the quality of life for those you serve, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
