    • Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 Depending on Experience

Position Summary:

The Workforce Enablement and Automation Manager oversees the Revenue Operations cross-functional support team that provides backup coverage across coding, payment posting, eligibility, verification of benefits, denials and follow-up, and patient collections during periods of backlog, PTO, other staffing needs. This role also leads the development of policies, procedures, and training materials for Revenue Operations, and manages automation and AI agent initiatives with third-party vendors to identify and implement the highest-ROI process automation opportunities. The Manager reports to the Director, Revenue Cycle Operations and partners closely with functional leaders across the department to keep staffing, documentation, and automation aligned with operational needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance, and resources according to organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance, as well as supports Revenue Cycle productivity and quality expectations.
  • Manages the Revenue Operations cross-functional support team, deploying staff across coding, payment posting, eligibility, verification of benefits, denials and follow-up, and patient collections to cover backlog, PTO, FMLA, and other staffing gaps.
  • Assesses staffing needs and backlog across Revenue Operations functions on an ongoing basis and prioritizes support team deployment accordingly.
  • Leads the development, documentation, and maintenance of Revenue Operations policies, procedures, and standard work across all functions.
  • Designs and delivers cross-training programs so that support team members and new hires can competently perform tasks across multiple Revenue Operations functions.
  • Manages the relationship with third-party automation and AI vendors, including scoping engagements, tracking deliverables, and holding vendors accountable to agreed timelines and outcomes.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and prioritizes automation and AI agent opportunities across Revenue Operations based on projected return on investment and operational impact.
  • Partners with functional leaders, including the Payment Posting & Coding Manager, Revenue Recovery Manager, and Patient Collections Supervisor, to pilot, test, and roll out automation and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Monitors the performance of implemented automation and AI agents, tracking accuracy, efficiency gains, and financial impact, and adjusts or escalates issues as needed.
  • Compiles and communicates workforce enablement and automation status, including support team utilization and automation ROI, to the Director, Revenue Cycle Operations.

 

Supervisory or Managerial Responsibility: 

  • Directly supervises 3-5 employees; also manages vendor management relationships with third-party automation and AI partners.

Other Duties:

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
  • Eight years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations required, ideally with experience across multiple revenue cycle functions (coding, payment posting, eligibility, collections), including three years of supervisory experience and prior experience managing vendor relationships or leading process improvement/automation initiatives required.
  • Experience with robotic process automation (RPA), AI-enabled tools, or workflow automation platforms required. Experience with EHR and billing systems required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
