- Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) Athena Health.
- Verify patient insurance information, process payments, and handle medical collections efficiently.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems by updating patient information, reviewing documentation, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing proper phone etiquette and handling inquiries promptly.
- Maintain organized medical records through filing, scanning, and data entry while ensuring accuracy in documentation review.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and scheduling follow-up appointments as needed.
- Uphold health information management standards by adhering to clinical confidentiality policies and safeguarding sensitive data.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with familiarity in EMR/EHR systems. Specifically Athena Health.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-key typing.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person.
- Bilingual abilities are highly preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic experience with health insurance knowledge including Medicare is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA is essential.
