Independent Pediatric Speech Therapist / SLP (In-Home – Autism Experience Preferred)Job Summary
Family seeking an experienced and compassionate Independent Pediatric Speech Therapist/Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide in-home speech and language services for a 3-year-old autistic child with significant speech and communication delays. We are looking for someone with experience working with nonverbal or minimally verbal children and familiarity with AAC devices, picture communication systems, and early childhood autism support.
This role focuses on helping develop functional communication, language skills, social engagement, and caregiver-supported strategies within the child’s home environment. We are looking for a therapist who can create a positive, play-based, and supportive learning experience tailored to the child’s individual developmental needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct speech and language assessments and provide individualized treatment recommendations
- Develop and implement personalized therapy goals focused on communication development
- Work with a nonverbal/minimally verbal autistic toddler using evidence-based and play-based approaches
- Support communication development through AAC, visual supports, gestures/signs, and verbal language strategies as appropriate
- Provide engaging in-home therapy sessions several times per week
- Collaborate with caregivers to model and teach communication strategies that can be used throughout daily routines
- Monitor progress and adjust therapy approaches as needed
- Maintain professional documentation and communication regarding treatment goals and progress
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Experience working with autistic children and early intervention populations
- Experience with AAC devices, PECS/picture communication, and language development strategies
- Familiarity with sensory and behavioral communication challenges
- Strong communication and caregiver coaching skills
- Ability to work independently in a home-based setting
- Pediatric and early childhood experience preferred
