What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parent Partner position at Families Plus?
As a Parent Partner on a team of providers working directly with families,
responsibilities will include the following:
- Refer and link clients to needed community and natural resources to
optimize functioning.
- Provide role modeling of effective advocacy for the family and for the
children in the community.
- Help parents with forms and paperwork that might be confusing and create
barriers for them.
- Help parents get to appointments and meetings after the parents have tried
and been unable to find transportation to attend these essential meetings.
- After initial modeling of reaching out for services and advocating for the
child with the parent, gradually fade their role and help parents assume
leadership and effectiveness advocating on their own behalf or finding
needed help by themselves. Be able to tastefully say “no” to parent requests
when the parents themselves are capable to accomplish or lead the task.
- Document all contacts with and for the family in the medical record on the
same day that that contact occurred or at least within 24 hours. Sign all
documentation contacts.
- Responsible to keep all client information confidential as required by HIPPA
federal laws and the policies and procedures of Families Plus. This obligation
persists even after employment ends.
- Must be able to utilize various software applications.
- Must be able to meet Families Plus charting requirements. Notes are due
within 24 hours of the time of direct service (contact with the family or child).
- Other specific duties as assigned.
- Must be comfortable driving clients in your own vehicle once in a while. (will
receive mileage reimbursement)
- Must be flexible and able to meet with families (over the phone and in
person). There is some flexibility in creating your own work schedule, up to
20 hours per week. However, this largely depends on when families are available to meet with you.
- Must be comfortable in working one on one or in a small group setting.
- Pay in accordance with job skills and past experience.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
