What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agency Nurse position at Families First?
Founded in 1996, Families First is a specialized non-profit agency that provides person-centered services for individuals living with developmental disabilities in Southern Vermont. Our services aim to promote independent living, enhance self-esteem, and cultivate community membership through caring and respectful relationships.
Families First in Bennington is hiring for a Part-time Nurse. This position has flexibility to become full-time in the near future. Pay begins at $30/hour. Training for this position will occur in both Brattleboro and Bennington Vermont. This role is an opportunity to be part of a growing, but small, supportive organization committed to helping others.
Estimated weekly hours are 20-25.
Tasks include:
- Maintain Vermont R.N License
- Develop and maintain positive relations with those we serve: employees, advocates, contractors, shared living providers, outside agencies, state representatives, and medical providers.
- Maintain confidentiality/ HIPAA practices
- Organize and update health information on all self-advocates, including inputting data into Carelogic/Qualifacts and contacting medical practices for up-to-date documents.
- Use EHR (Electronic Health Records) to maintain updated medication lists and health records.
- Follow the Health and Wellness Guidelines from the state of Vermont. Review Health & Wellness guidelines with Shared Living Providers.
- Delegate medication and train employees in medication administration, blood borne pathogens, special care procedures, and other specialized training. *This includes accessing, writing, training, and maintaining Special Care Procedures.
- Review MARS monthly and keep up to date medication records for each individual.
- Be a resource for self-advocates & Shared Living Providers for any medical & medication concerns that may arise.
- Be aware of relevant agency policies, and participate in meetings when asked.
Requirements for the role:
- RN degree from an accredited nursing program, current & maintained VT license.
- Experience working with people living with developmental disabilities, mental health, or pediatrics.
- Strong oral and written communication, organization, and advocacy skills.
- A reliable vehicle
