What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Duty CNA – High-End Geriatric Care position at Falmouth Resident?
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and reliable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide exceptional private-duty care for an elderly, house-bound married woman in Falmouth, MA. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in geriatric care and possesses the unique blend of professional expertise and warm companionship required to support a legally blind individual managing COPD.
This is an independent, private-duty position managed directly by the patient’s family. We are looking for someone who brings flexibility, initiative, patience, warmth, and a great sense of humor to our home every day.
- Pay: $35.00 per hour
- Location: Falmouth, MA (Cape Cod)
- Initial Schedule: 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and either Saturday or Sunday).
- Hours: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM (approximately 3–4 hours per shift, pending daily tasks).
Key Responsibilities
- Nutritious Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook daily meals according to the patient's preferences.
- Errands & Driving: Handle grocery shopping, pick up prescription refills, and manage miscellaneous household errands around the Falmouth area.
- Light Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment, including vacuuming, doing laundry, and changing/making the bed.
- Pet Care Assistance: Provide basic care and assistance for three loved, small dogs (feeding, letting them out, etc.).
- Companionship & Support: Offer patient, attentive care tailored to someone who is legally blind and house-bound, ensuring her comfort and safety regarding her COPD.
- Miscellaneous Tasks: Show initiative in tackling small, daily household projects as they arise.
Job Requirements (Strictly Enforced)
- Certification: Active and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required (please attach a copy of certification with application email)
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of dedicated geriatric care experience. Experience with vision impairment and respiratory conditions (COPD) is highly preferred.
- Personality Traits: Must demonstrate strong initiative (seeing what needs to be done without being asked), flexibility with daily scheduling/tasks, genuine warmth, and a patient, lighthearted demeanor.
- Background & Driving: Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle for running errands, and a clean driving record. Must be willing to undergo a standard background check.
- Comfort with Pets: Must genuinely love and be comfortable working around small dogs.
