Responsibilities
- Update and maintain health histories
- Provide preventive and therapeutic dental care for patients of all ages
- Perform prophylaxis and periodontal maintenance using EMS Airflow and hand scaling
- Take digital dental radiographs
- Apply fluoride and sealants as indicated
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care
- Assist in the diagnosis of periodontal disease, caries detection, and identification of failing restorations.
- Conduct oral cancer screenings
- Maintain clean, organized treatment rooms and follow infection control protocols
- Document patient care accurately
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
- Maine Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to continuing education
- Local anesthetic certification encouraged but not required
