Position Overview
Fall Fittings Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Full-Time Welder / Fabricator to join our growing team in New Paltz, NY. This role involves working with structural steel and miscellaneous metals to fabricate high-quality components in a fast-paced shop environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints and measurements accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding, cutting, and coping of structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical diagrams
- Measure, mark, and layout materials using a tape measure and other tools
- Operate fabrication equipment (saws, torches, grinders, and other shop tools)
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment following all safety protocols
- Inspect finished workpieces for accuracy and structural integrity
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in welding and metal fabrication (structural steel preferred)
- Proficiency in common welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings accurately
- Strong math and measurement skills, including use of a tape measure
- Familiarity with fabrication tools and shop equipment
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certification or similar welding credentials (a plus, but not required)
- Experience with structural steel fabrication and installation
- Forklift or rigging experience
