What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Solutions Engineer position at Falkonry?
Falkonry is a Silicon Valley-based AI company building the Time Series AI (TSI) platform — purpose-built software that turns real-time sensor and telemetry data into actionable operational intelligence. Our patented PatternIQ™ technology powers anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and root cause analysis for some of the world’s most demanding environments, from defense systems to manufacturing plants to IT infrastructure. Recognized on the Forbes AI 100 and CB Insights AI 50, Falkonry is backed by leading investors including Zetta Venture Partners, Polaris Partners, and In-Q-Tel. Falkonry operates as a small, high-impact engineering team where every contributor shapes the product directly. We value depth over breadth — engineers here own problems end-to-end, from architecture through deployment. The work is technically demanding: real-time stream processing, large-scale data systems, and machine learning infrastructure serving mission-critical environments. We invest in people who are curious, rigorous, and willing to learn fast.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to serve as the technical spearhead for our Public Sector business, bridging the gap between advanced time-series AI and the complex, mission-critical needs of the Department of Defense (DoD).
This is an active, technical deployment position focused on operationalizing AI. You will be responsible for working with real-time military sensor data, architecting analytical pipelines, and deploying AI models across a spectrum of DoD environments—from secure cloud regions to disconnected edge devices on naval vessels, aircraft, and facility systems. This role offers the opportunity to see your work directly operationalized at the tactical edge.
Key Responsibilities
Architect & Deploy AI Solutions: Design and implement Falkonry’s time-series AI and analytics software across varied DoD infrastructure, including GovCloud, HPCC, on-prem data centers, and tactical edge environments.
Technical Integration & Data Engineering: Connect Falkonry’s REST APIs and analytical engines with complex, heterogeneous military sensor streams, data buses, and weapon systems.
Pilot & Proof of Concept (PoC) Leadership: Lead technical execution for BAA, OTA, and DoE SBIR initiatives, transforming telemetry data into actionable situational awareness for commanders and defense analysts.
Warfighter Advocacy & Enablement: Collaborate directly with DoD engineers, systems analysts, and academic partners to reduce data barriers, validate root-cause explanation features, and demonstrate AI-driven information dominance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Falkonry’s Core Product and Engineering teams to integrate field-derived insights, edge-case requirements, and security challenges into our product development cycle.
Requirements
DoD Ecosystem Experience: Proven track record working with the Department of Defense (USAF, US Navy, Army, or Joint programs) as a contractor, civilian, or military technical specialist. Familiarity with military data security standards and mission frameworks is essential.
Engineering & Analytics Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Strong competencies in implementing data analytics, processing raw telemetry, or managing time-series data.
Hands-on Technical Execution: Proficient with modern software architecture, including containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), Linux environments, REST APIs, and data integration. Proficiency with Python or MATLAB is highly desirable.
Deployment Experience: Practical experience deploying software solutions in complex IT environments. Exposure to cloud deployments or hardware-constrained edge computing is a significant advantage. Experience with RMF preparation, including STIGs and network topology diagrams, is highly desired and a primary responsibility for this position.
Clearance Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Possession of, or clear ability to obtain, an active Secret or Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance is necessary for this role.
Location: Based in California, with flexibility for hybrid/remote setups depending on proximity to our Cupertino headquarters and relevant testbeds.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Ideal candidates will also possess some of the following:
Active Top Secret clearance with a favorable background investigation.
Familiarity with Linux and zero trust architectures, as well as HPCC, Gov Cloud, and tactical cloud edge architectures, including GPUs/NPUs.
Prior experience working within a fast-paced dual-use startup or a nimble defense-tech vendor.
