Elementary Art Teacher (Summer Session Only)

Pay: Starting at $33.97 per hour ($7,133.70 per summer session)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:35 AM – 2:35 PM
This is a temporary summer session position only, this role will run from July 6 until August 14th, 2026.
The Stanley G. Falk School, one of the largest Special Education Day Schools in New York State, serves students across four Western New York locations. Teachers provide instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) to help students reach their fullest academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and intellectual potential. Falk classrooms are intentionally small, typically serving six students supported by one teacher and one teacher aide, allowing staff to build meaningful relationships and provide individualized support.
This temporary summer opportunity is ideal for certified teachers who are passionate about fostering creativity, self-expression, and student engagement while working with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in a collaborative educational environment.
Responsibilities include:
-Plan and deliver engaging art instruction aligned with student abilities and educational goals.
-Develop and implement creative activities that encourage artistic expression, fine motor development, and participation.
-Adapt lessons and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
-Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to reinforce student goals and promote positive learning experiences.
-Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment.
-Monitor student progress and participation and communicate effectively with staff regarding student needs.
-Prepare and organize art materials, supplies, and displays.
-Respond calmly and effectively to students with extreme or escalating behaviors, using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques as needed.
-Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating patience, creativity, flexibility, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
-New York State Art Certification required (candidates currently enrolled in a certification program will also be considered)
-Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards and classroom management strategies
-Valid driver’s license preferred
