Overview
Falconwood is a woman-owned, veteran-owned company providing consultation and programmatic support to Department of Defense Information Technology (IT) initiatives and programs. We provide expert advice and consultation on a diverse range of IT subjects, focusing on acquisition, policy, cybersecurity, engineering, and process development.
The Data Visualization Specialist will be responsible for translating analytic outputs into compelling visual products for the Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) N6 Directorate, enabling data-driven decision-making across the Information Warfare enterprise.
Responsibilities
This role bridges data analysis and user experience, focusing on the design, development, and deployment of dashboards and data visualizations. The candidate will partner with data scientists, analysts, and mission stakeholders to craft impactful visualizations that support readiness, cybersecurity, and operational insight. This is a hybrid position based in Suffolk, VA, with limited travel anticipated.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and implement data visualizations and dashboards for use across NAVIFOR and subordinate commands
- Translate user stories and mission needs into tailored visualization products
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to access, structure, and interpret complex datasets
- Tune visualizations for usability, clarity, and performance across varied platforms and use cases
- Maintain and enhance deployed visual tools based on stakeholder feedback and evolving data needs
- Use industry-standard tools and component libraries to ensure responsive, scalable, and secure visualization design
- Contribute to agile development processes, sprint cycles, and collaborative design reviews
Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience using multiple data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, D3.js, Plotly)
- At least 2 years working in Agile or Scrum development environments
- Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required
- Technical Skills:
- Strong experience in UI/UX principles for data-centric visualizations
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript frameworks, and API integration is a plus
- Proficiency with collaboration platforms like Jira, Confluence, Jama, or Git
- Must be technically savvy and possess excellent communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and within cross-functional teams
- Must have effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Pay Range
Base pay is $80,000–$90,000, subject to skill level, qualifications, and location.
