What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Repair Tech position at Falcon IT?
Job Overview
Falcon IT is a locally owned computer repair and IT services company serving residential clients throughout the area. We’re looking for a Computer Repair Technician who enjoys solving problems, learning constantly, and taking ownership of their work.
This is a hands-on, real-world role. You’ll handle everything from hardware repairs and malware removal to Wi-Fi troubleshooting and customer education. You’ll also wear multiple hats. No two days are the same, and there is no script for many of the problems you’ll encounter.
If you enjoy figuring things out, this role will feel rewarding. If you prefer rigid task lists and narrow responsibilities, this role will not be a good fit.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Repair & Setup
- Diagnose and repair desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Replace or upgrade internal components such as drives, memory, power supplies, and CPUs.
- Set up and configure new computers and peripheral devices.
Software Troubleshooting

- Perform malware removal and basic security remediation.
- Install, update, and optimize software for reliability and usability.
Network & Connectivity Support
- Diagnose and resolve LAN, Wi-Fi, and Internet connectivity issues.
- Set up and configure home routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Perform basic network testing and optimization.
Data Backup & Recovery
- Perform data backups and recovery services.
- Educate customers on backup strategies and data protection best practices.
Customer Service
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and patiently with customers.
- Explain technical issues in plain language.
- Educate customers on maintenance, security, and prevention.
Onsite & Remote Support
- Provide in-home and onsite service within the local service area.
- Use remote tools when appropriate to diagnose and resolve issues.
Documentation & Organization
- Document work thoroughly in the ticketing system.
- Contribute solutions and notes to the company knowledge base.
- Assist with inventory, tools, and workspace organization.
Other Duties
- Assist with basic office tasks and shop upkeep.
- Support business operations as needed in a small-team environment.
Continuous Learning Expectations
Technology changes constantly, and so do the problems our customers face. To succeed at Falcon IT, you must be someone who actively learns on your own.
- Demonstrate curiosity and initiative to research and learn new technologies independently.
- Be willing to spend personal time improving technical skills and troubleshooting ability.
- Be comfortable learning from documentation, forums, labs, and hands-on experimentation.
- Adapt effectively when encountering unfamiliar systems or problems.
We provide guidance and support, but this is not a role where all learning happens during paid training hours.
Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or technical training preferred but not required.
Experience
- One or more years of hands-on computer repair experience preferred.
- Experience with Windows required; macOS experience is a plus.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Comfortable taking ownership of issues from start to finish.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Combination of in-office and onsite customer work.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
