The Role and Function of the HS Social Studies Teacher

The position of the High School Social Studies Teacher will implement into daily instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on the Nevada State Standards and the course syllabi. Create and maintain an educational and Christian atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports the mission of the school.

The Positional Responsibilities

• Prepare each day for instruction of students by setting up necessary computers, projectors, etc.
• Copies for the days’ lesson plans
• Attend scheduled meetings before/after school
• Supervise students outside classroom at assigned stations before/after school and lunch.
• Attend weekly chapels, assemblies or presentations with students.
• Assignments must be graded each week and entered on the school’s academic programvia computer.
• Make parent phone calls when necessary and returning calls within 24 hours.
• Lead students during monthly fire drills, shelter-in-place drills and shooter on campusdrills.Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possess a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Possess a current teaching license in Social Studies or the ability to acquire a Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education and certified in relevant subject area.

The Mega-limitation

When representing Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School, the Teacher shall not act in a manner that is unethical, imprudent, illegal or inconsistent with the Christian faith, the articles of incorporation, By-laws, policies or mission of Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School.

Salary and Benefits

This full-time teacher is for High School Social Studies teaching five blocks. Faith Lutheran provides a competitive salary based on education and years of experience with complete health and retirement benefits, including a 50% student tuition discount (if applicable).
