BUSINESS MANAGER (Finance, HR, and Operations)

Faith Lutheran Church and School is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Business Manager to provide leadership in finance, human resources, and facility operations across our church, K–5 school, and early childhood program. This role is essential to supporting the ministry of Faith as we reach families with the love of Christ.
Our current Business Manager is retiring at the end of this year, and we are seeking to fill the position as soon as possible.
About the Role
The Business Manager serves as a key member of the Executive Team and oversees the financial, human resources, and facility management functions of the church and school. This includes budgeting, payroll, benefits administration, vendor relations, compliance, insurance, reporting, and operational support for all areas of ministry.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in nonprofit administration, church operations, finance, HR, or business management, who thrives in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management
- Develop and manage annual budget and long-term financial strategy
- Track contributions, school tuition, and other revenue
- Manage accounts payable, payroll, vendor payments, and financial reporting
- Work with auditors and support external financial reviews
- Administer insurance policies, tax forms, and regulatory filings
Human Resources
- Oversee onboarding, benefits enrollment, and end-of-employment processes
- Maintain personnel records and compliance with state and federal law
- Communicate benefits information with staff and vendors
- Support staff culture through clear communication and administrative care
Facilities & Operations
- Oversee maintenance of all church, school, and early childhood facilities
- Coordinate bids, contractors, and preventative maintenance plans
- Maintain vendor databases and service documentation
- Serve as liaison between contractors, staff, and leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (MBA preferred)
- Experience in nonprofit, church, or school business management preferred
- Strong skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and accounting software
- Understanding of HR processes and employment regulations
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and lead in a fast-paced environment
- A commitment to Christian values and support of Lutheran (LCMS) ministry; membership at Faith Lutheran preferred
