Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, seniors, or those in need of assisted living and home health services. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and document patient observations, vital signs, and overall well-being in accordance with care plans.
- Administer medications and assist with medication management following HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist residents with meal planning and preparation.
- Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia, ensuring a safe and comforting environment.
- Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals or social workers.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light cleaning duties as needed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a respectful and engaging atmosphere.
- Comply with all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures; respond promptly to emergencies.
- Document all care activities accurately while respecting patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs, medication administration, and dementia or Alzheimer's care is highly desirable.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and perform heavy lifting when necessary; physical stamina required for long shifts.
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a caregiving environment.
