Description
The Accountant III performs advanced accounting functions, including financial reconciliations, reporting, and compliance. This role supports the CFO by ensuring financial integrity, leading audits, and mentoring junior staff. This position reports to and is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Responsibilities include :
- Perform complex reconciliations, including multi-currency accounts and donor-restricted funds.
- Prepare and review financial statements to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Lead audit preparation and serve as a primary liaison for internal and external auditors.
- Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to enhance compliance.
- Oversee high-value transactions, including wire transfers and international payments.
- Mentor Accountant I and II staff on technical accounting processes.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including variance analysis and adjustments.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows.
