Position Summary:
Classroom teachers provide instruction to their assigned classroom or within their specific area of expertise working with the curriculum designed by the district. They work directly with students, school staff, building administrators to meet the educational goals of the district.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducting lessons on developmentally appropriate physical activities designed to improve fine and gross motor skills while developing a desire for cardiovascular fitness
- Supporting students by answering any questions they have
- Meet with people to assess their health needs
- Teach students about behaviors, such as lifestyle changes, that can improve their health
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to all students in the class.
- Teach according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.
- Expose students to lesson content while motivating each student to develop competencies, knowledge and skills in specified discipline.
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the elective curriculum and scope and sequence.
- Identify and acquire needed instructional materials.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required in health sciences or education
- A current Oregon Teacher’s License or ACSI certification preferred
- Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students in theories, methods and tasks
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex ideas
- Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs
- Knowledge of appropriate educational psychology, learning styles and strategies
- Strong public speaking and oral presentation skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Technology skills to track student attendance and grades and present creative lessons
- Leadership skills and patience for working with students of all ages
