What You'll Do
As a Capture Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of Fairwinds by identifying, pursuing, and winning new business opportunities within the US Government for communications, networking, and information technology solutions. You will lead the capture efforts for strategic opportunities, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop winning strategies and proposals. These proposals are often complex efforts with challenging technical solutions and use a variety of contracting types to include Firm-Fixed Price and Cost Plus. You will also use your organizational skills to maintain the forecast for the business area and drive the customer contact plan. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully capturing and securing high-value projects in the government communications domain. You should be a highly motivated, results-driven individual with exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
The day-to-day
- Lead the end-to-end capture process for strategic opportunities, from opportunity identification to proposal submission in alignment with the strategic plans and financial targets.
- Observe and analyze the market to identify potential customers, competitors, and industry trends to inform capture strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with US government and Prime Contractor customers to understand their needs and shape solutions that meet their requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Development, Operations, Contracts, Finance, and Engineering, to develop compelling and competitive solutions.
- Develop and implement win strategies, ensuring that all proposal content is aligned with customer needs, RFP requirements, and company capabilities.
- Manage the proposal development process, coordinating the efforts of the proposal team to deliver high-quality, compliant, and timely submissions.
- Lead and participate in capture reviews, providing regular updates to senior management on the status of opportunities and potential risks.
- Monitor and assess the competitive landscape, tracking competitor activities and adjusting capture strategies accordingly.
- Work with management to generate and maintain the bookings forecast.
- Assist the business development team with planning customer contacts to optimize information gathering and opportunity influencing.
Job Requirements:
- 8 years of experience in capture management, business development, program management, or related roles within the communications, networking, and information technology domains.
- Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering or Business discipline.
- Understanding of the US government contracting process.
- Proven track record of successfully capturing and winning high-value contracts and projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret market and customer data to inform capture strategies.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple capture efforts simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
- A willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers and end users.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a US government security clearance.
What Will Help You On The Job:
- Technical knowledge and experience in transmission of any kind (ie radio, satcom, 5G) along with networks (baseband, server, etc).
- MBA preferred.
- Familiarity with the communications market, including key players, customer needs, and emerging trends.
- Understanding of relevant US government agencies and their procurement processes.
- Existing relationships with US government and Prime Contractor customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Understanding of cost and how it relates to proposal development,
- Ideal work location in the Washington DC surrounding area (but open to other remote locations).
Compensation:
At Fairwinds, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
