POSITION SUMMARY
FairVote is growing its Development Team and is seeking an Events Manager to plan, organize, and manage all external fundraising events including, but not limited to, the biennial FairVote Awards. Under the leadership of the VP of Development, the Events Manager will work closely with the Development team and Senior Executive team to strategically plan for fundraising events that will align with and benefit our core principles and strategic plan, engage our external stakeholders, enhance our brand identity, and showcase our leadership within the electoral reform movement.
POSITION TYPE
The Events Manager is considered a confidential and an exempt position. Exempt employees are expected to work the appropriate and necessary time to complete key assignments and related tasks on schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Event Management- Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of key external fundraising events including, but not limited to, our biennial fundraiser, the FairVote Awards.
- Create, plan, and manage annual event budgets in consultation with the VP of Development.
- Own, manage and coordinate event vendors, venues, contracts, and other external event relationships.
- Strategic Partnerships
- Support the Director of Institutional and Foundation Giving with cultivation and stewardship of corporate partners and sponsors to grow event revenue and impact.
- Work with the VP of Development and Development team to create and plan for strategic initiatives/events in support of fundraising goals.
- Content and Marketing
- Partner with FairVote’s Development and Communications teams to create materials and plan marketing campaigns to grow attendance and engagement for fundraising events.
- Collaborate with FairVote’s Communications team to create and plan social media content to promote FairVote events and sponsorships.
- Operations and Administrative
- Coordinate and communicate with the Development team to ensure key donors and relationships are being managed effectively and consistently recorded in the CRM (Keela).
- Work closely with the Development and Finance teams to ensure all event management practices and relationships are compliant with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Event Management - knowledge of and experience in business management and principles involved in planning and managing an event, including but not limited to, resource allocation and budget management, coordination of people and resources, sponsorship management, vendor and contract management, etc.
- Planning & Organization - able to comprehensively plan, organize, and execute fundraising events while managing day-to-day responsibilities.
- Decision making - able to make both independent and collaborative decisions based on organization’s strategic plan, leadership’s needs, and event goals.
- Service orientation - being customer-oriented in thought and action and juggling the needs of the organization and external stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of increasing responsibility in event management and fundraising.- Knowledge of and experience in nonprofit fundraising methods and protocols.
- Experience with various fundraising, donor, and event planning tools - such as CRMs, project management software, and personal organization tools.
- Knowledge of and experience using Keela is a plus.
High proficiency and skills in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Zoom preferred.
LOCATION
This position is based in Silver Spring, MD where the FairVote office is located.
SALARY & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt position. FairVote offers a competitive benefits package for all full-time employees. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000.
