Fairview Range is hiring a Respiratory Therapist for our Respiratory Care team in Hibbing, MN.
The Respiratory Therapist to join our close-knit team. Respiratory Therapy at Fairview Range is an integral part of our care team, providing world-class care to patients in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. Based within the hospital, our team cares for patients in Acute Care, ICU, Emergency Department, Women's Health and Birth Center, and responds to emergency codes. Our team also works closely with the Sleep Lab, Pulmonary Function Lab, and Cardiac Rehab departments, as well as liaising with M Health Fairview’s Home Medical Equipment.
The Respiratory Care Practitioner specializes in the delivery of cardiopulmonary care and treatment of the patient from premature infants to geriatric. Care is provided at the patient’s bedside or in special function labs. The level of care given can range from critical care to diagnostic testing. Care is given using the current practice parameters and policies/procedures while supporting the goals, mission, vision, and values of Fairview Range.
About this unit:
- Department of approximately 14 staff, with over half the staff having 15 years of experience.
- Adjacent Sleep Lab, Pulmonary Function lab.
- Teaching institution for area Respiratory Therapist programs.
- Level IV trauma center with a 17-bed Emergency Department and 4-bed ICU.
- Attends all deliveries and OB emergencies for Women’s Health and Birth Center which includes 4 labor and delivery suites.
- Responds to all emergency codes within Fairview Range Medical Center.
Schedule: This position is on-call, working hours as needed.

As a Respiratory Therapist you will be responsible for:
- Advancing critical care procedures, including managing all ventilators and BiPAPs.
- Performing effective airway management including intubations, extubations, trach tube changes, bag/mask ventilation, conscious sedation.
- Routine respiratory care procedure on inpatients and outpatients.
- Performing diagnostic procedures including ECG’s, pulmonary function, and oximetry.
- Performing equipment assembly and testing.
- Effectively educating patients and students. Attending staff meetings, in-services and educational opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Must maintain registration with State of Minnesota as a "State Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner."
- CRT/RRT or eligible with the NBRC.
- Current RRT or obtain within one year of hire date.
- Must have passed BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and BCS or willing and able to complete required class within first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of clinical experience in respiratory care.
