Job Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Cook for our Nutrition Department in Hibbing, MN.

 

As a Cook you will be responsible for prepping and preparing patient, cafeteria, and special function food using standardized recipes and following production guidelines. Functions as a part of a team that ensures the delivery of food to patients within 45 minutes of being ordered.

 

Schedule: This position is a cross training opportunity with hours as needed.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for: 

• Food production.
• Prepares food using standardized recipes and production guidelines.
• Inspects and tastes all food to ensure quality standards are met. Garnishes as appropriate.
• Organizes daily production activities to meet meal service times.
• Participates in daily production review with Nutrition Services Supervisor.
• Food service.
• Fills patient meal tickets in accordance with established menu and designated portion sizes.
• Responsible for the preparation of food items needed for the service of Hot entrees and sides and/ or Bakery items for the Cafeteria, Special Functions, as well as Patients.
• Sanitation and safety.
• Demonstrates ability to safely operate all kinds of equipment.
• Properly handles and stores food and assists with the use of carry-overs.
• Maintains work centers and food storage areas in a clean, sanitary and organized manor to ensure Health Department codes are met. Ensures a safe and sanitary working environment.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• 2 years of Experience in restaurant or institutional cooking

Special Skills

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to figure simple mathematical computations.
• Ability to adapt to changing work routines and production demands.
• Demonstrates familiarity with food service operations and solid understanding of patient's dietary needs.
• The employee must maintain a friendly and cheerful demeanor.
