Trauma Resource Nurse

Fairview is looking for a Trauma Resource Nurse to join our team at our Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN.

Job Summary:

The Trauma Resource Nurse collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager(s) to facilitate Performance Improvement Activities within the Trauma department, which includes concurrent and retrospective chart reviews of select trauma patients, facilitation of trauma peer review meetings, coordination of all trauma outreach activities and education of the emergency department and inpatient nursing staff. The trauma resource nurse works closely with the Trauma Program Manager(s) and serves as a resource for trauma patient quality work among all collaborating services.

Job Expectations: 

• Assists the Trauma Program Manager(s) with chart review and audits of select trauma patients
• Documents performance improvement processes to determine success of actions and implementations of loop closure/resolution/next steps.
• Collaborates with the trauma team to prepare documents for trauma medical peer/case reviews, morbidity and mortality, or other meetings as requested

• Acts as an ongoing resource for the ED and in-patient trauma floors
• Educates hospital personnel in traumatic injuries and the care of the trauma patient
• Provide ongoing education to staff for the significance of timely and accurate documentation in the care of the trauma patient
• Responsible, in partnership with the trauma program manager, for accurate and timely chart audit and data submission to the trauma registry.
• Participates in outreach related to promoting continued education of trauma injury prevention.

Required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing

License/Certification/Registration

• Registered Nurse in Minnesota

Preferred

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing

Experience

• At least two years of hospital nursing experience, including care for injured patients

License/Certification/Registration

• Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN)

Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time):

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire
• Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) Course completion required within 12 months from date of hire

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
