What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Supervisor - Point of Care Testing position at Fairview Health Services?
M Health Fairview is looking for a Point of Care Supervisor in the Acute Care Laboratories at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-West Bank. This role also oversees Point of Care testing at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank, and M Health Clinic and Surgery Center. This is mainly a full-time position, 7 am to 3:pm, Monday through Friday (no weekends or holidays). Scheduling flexibility, though rare, may be required for special projects.
The University of Minnesota Medical Center Acute Laboratories perform clinical hematology, chemistry, blood gas, coagulation, urinalysis, manual, transfusion medicine, and blood collection and processing. The West and East Bank Acute Care Laboratories and the Clinic and Surgery Center serve a variety of pediatric and adult patients. The combined teams consist of approximately 300 employees.
The Technical Supervisor has direct responsibilities for the technical operation of a laboratory or a laboratory section. The responsibilities include the supervision of employees in collaboration with laboratory managers and medical directors. The Technical Supervisor assures the provision of accurate testing which best meets the customer expectations in a cost-effective manner.
Job expectations include:
Provides daily supervision of the laboratory, Assumes responsibility for the operations of the laboratory, Assumes responsibility for Human resource management,
Participates in planning and financial management for the lab or lab section, Evaluates testing results for accuracy and appropriate intervention, Supervises laboratory activities in Laboratory Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement and Laboratory Compliances programs. Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served,
Demonstrates Commitment to Customers, Fellow Employees, and to Fairview.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological sciences, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
- Possess appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT).
- At least 1-year experience with high complexity testing in designated discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer BS in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- Three to Five Years as MLS/MT
Preferred Experience
- Minimum one year of direct point of care testing experience
