Surgical Technologist - Casual

Fairview has an immediate opening for a surgical technologist in the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center location in Princeton, MN. 

As a Surgical Technologist, you will efficiently perform the functions of a scrub person during surgical procedures delivering patient care services served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN. You will also be collaborating to carry out the standards of nursing practice and patient care, accurate use of supplies/equipment, and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of an RN. 

Schedule:

This is a casual position with a 0.01 FTE, working hours as needed. The shift length will be variable in the day/evening shift. This position will also work weekends as needed. This role is not eligible for benefits.

• We are searching for a positive team player who is open to learning new skills to join our family-like atmosphere in the OR.  
• We currently have 4 Operating Rooms and 2 Procedure Rooms. 

• Call is 20-minutes and we do have call rooms available.

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for: 

• Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. 
• Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. 
• Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. 
• Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. 

• Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. 
• Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. 
• Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. 
• Anticipating the surgeon’s needs. 
• Following appropriate action in emergency situations. 

Required Qualifications  

• Complete one of the following by hire date: 

• Military Surgical Assistant; OR 

• LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR 
• Surgical Technologist training 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date) 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program 
• AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire 
• 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

• Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served. 
• Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

An individual's pay rate within the posted range may be determined by various factors, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization prioritizes pay equity and considers internal team equity when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
