Job Summary:
The Supervisor Revenue Cycle oversees one or more Revenue Cycle business units responsible for staff, daily operations, and performance outcomes. Provides daily leadership, oversight, guidance, and support to ensure the team meets daily work to achieve target objective. The role ensures the department's workflow, quality and performance meets the Revenue Cycle's goals. The Supervisor Revenue Cycle works with the Revenue Cycle Manager/Director to develop strategic plans, staff assignments, and goals to ensure operational efficiency. Acts as a subject matter expert, maintains system proficiency and works with cross-functional Revenue Cycle departments, customers, and support departments to maximize efficiency and wholistic experience and revenue potential. Strong, effective, and consistent oral and written communication is a vital requirement of the supervisor role. The Supervisor Revenue Cycle may assist with daily work as needed, lead initiatives, oversee vendor performance and support with other business functions as necessary.
Job Expectations:
- Sets, oversees, adjusts, and ensures daily production of work is completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Demonstrates financial acumen regarding metrics and sets specific goals, standards, and objectives for intra-departmental processes collaboratively with leadership and other areas

- Provides oversight to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, practices, and procedures. Maintains self and team knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

This position is responsible for overseeing the completion the financial clearance process within Behavioral Health Access. This is a higher-level position in the Behavioral Health Access that requires understanding of and working with multiple insurance payors to secure benefits and increase the likelihood of reimbursement for Fairview at the highest benefit level.
The Supervisor Revenue Cycle must be able to effectively articulate payor information in a manner such that patients, guarantors, and family members gain a clear understanding of their financial responsibilities.
The Supervisor Revenue Cycle will be responsible for ensuring completion the insurance and benefits verification to determine the patient’s benefit level. They will oversee the financial clearance representative to ensure that they are screening payor medical policies to determine if the scheduled procedure meets medical necessity guidelines, submit, and manage referral and authorization requests/requirements when necessary, and/or ensure that pre-certification and admissions notification requirements are met per payor guidelines. They will provide support and process prior authorization appeals and denials, when necessary, in conjunction with revenue cycle and clinical staff.
The Supervisor Revenue Cycle makes the decision when and how to work with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance payors and other external sources to assist families in obtaining healthcare and financial services.
Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:
Required
Education
- Associate degree in Business, Health Information Management, or related area
- Three years of experience within an applicable Revenue Cycle Department may substitute for associate degree
Experience
- Two years of experience in a Hospital/Clinic Revenue Cycle Department. This experience must be in addition to three years of experience in lieu of associate degree requirement above.

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within thisrange may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience,and market conditions.
