What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service and Product Assistant position at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview is looking for a casual Service and Product Assistant to work at our Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. This is a casual position meaning all hours will be as needed.
To receive, deliver, replenish, clean and maintain appropriate equipment/supplies/linen/forms. To assist with maintaining inventory control.
Responsibilities
Receive, stock, clean, and organize medical supplies, linens, equipment, and case carts, ensuring all items are prepared and delivered where needed.
Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages or expired items, take part in cycle counts, and alert the Inventory Specialist when adjustments or replacements are needed.
Identify medical supplies and equipment correctly, understand the surgery schedule, and select the right items for procedures.
Clean and decontaminate equipment and instruments, follow safety and infection-control policies, and operate tools such as pallet jacks, lifts, washers, and tracking systems.
Respond to customer and caregiver requests in a timely and respectful way, prioritizing urgent or patient-related needs and keeping teams updated.
Communicate clearly, protect patient privacy, support safe patient care, and collaborate with nursing and SPD leadership on inventory and workflow needs.
Required Qualifications
- less than 1 year comparable materials or related experience
- Can bend, reach, stand and lift a maximum of 75 pounds
- Be able to operate a computer for supply requests, equipment requests, equipment tracking, and efficiency reporting.
- The qualified applicant must have excellent customer service, good communication skills with follow through and be able to prioritize
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Nursing or related field
- 1 year health care related experience
- and/or extensive knowledge of medical hardware/software, medical supplies through formal education channels
