What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview is looking for a Security Officer to join our Fairview St John's Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. The Security Officer provides for the safety and security of patients, visitors and staff and property by responding to needs of hospital patients, visitors and staff, offering assistance and providing excellent customer service standards. Proactively works to prevent theft and vandalism. May be involved in high risk situations with exposure to potentially dangerous situations which requires range of safety precautions.
Schedule:
- 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- evening position
- every other weekend
Our Security Officers:
- Patrol designated areas according to established procedures and documents patrols in daily shift reports.
- Document daily activities in report writing system.
- Provide assistance to patients, visitors and staff.
- Respond to calls for services.
- Assist in the control (often physical) of potentially violent individuals which requires strength, stamina, flexibility and critical thinking.
- Work with potentially unpredictable individuals requiring that teamwork and communication with other security officers.
- Maintain knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Required:
Experience: 2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience OR an Associate’s degree and 1 year of security, law enforcement, or military experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
License/Certification: Valid Class D Driver’s License and a clean DMV record.
Preferred:
Previous hospital security experience.
Certifications like Certified Peace Officer (POST) or Emergency Med Tech Basic (EMT-B).
