Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU at our M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital location in Woodbury, MN.

Within our ICU, our Registered Nurses are responsible for caring for patients who have many different diagnoses including, but not limited to, sepsis, overdoses, withdrawals, and surgical patients who need a higher level of care. Our complex patients require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families. This is a fast-paced and highly technical medical environment. 

Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the Evening shift, working every other weekend.

• 18 beds mixed acuity
• Ages 18
• Patient average length of stay:  3-4 days
• Patient Population:  Vents, codes, respiratory failures, septic patients, shock, unstable post surgicals, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,diabetics
• Usually 7-14 patients a day, however we are going to be increasing these numbers
• Free parking!
• Will consider experienced ICU or someone looking to push themselves to the next level

As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for: 

• Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;  
• Developing an individualized nursing plan of care; 
• Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care; 
• Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;  
• Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes; 
• Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;
• Demonstrating the ability to advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes; 
• Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and  
• Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. 

Required Qualifications: 

• Associate degree in Nursing
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid RN Licensure from MN Board of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association
• Preceptor experien
• 1 year of RN IMC or ICU experience
• Telemetry experience
