Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Adult Inpatient Mental Health position at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.5 FTE (40 hours every two weeks) on the Day shift. This position is 8 hours long and will work and every other weekend rotation.

About our Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit at the UMMC West Bank:

• 17 beds in 5 private and 6 double rooms.
• Team consists of - attending psychiatrists, 2 CTC's (social workers), 1 Occupational therapist, RNs, and psychiatric associates. Chaplains, diversity specialists, and medical providers are shared with other units.
• Station 20 also has a mix of many challenging patients including those who are anxious/depressed and are at risk for self-harm or suicide as well as those who have thought disorders and struggle with managing their lives in the community.
• Some patients have co-occurring medical issues that broaden the RN experience.
• Station 20 is one of our teaching units and so RNs and PAs will work with resident doctors and medical students.
• Team meetings on teaching units are very informative and participatory.

As a Registered Nurse in the Adult Inpatient Mental Health Department, you will be responsible for:

• Utilizing a detailed process to assess the physical and mental health needs of the patient, which will provide a framework from which patient care is planned [knows disease processes, therapy, complications, expected outcomes for specific patient population(s)]
• Contributing to the development of an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive plan of care.
• Administering medications according to a policy used for the management of behavioral patients with knowledge of actions, contraindications, side effects, and desired outcomes.
• Evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in meeting the identified emotional, psychological, and physical needs, making revisions based on these outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

• Current MN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• 1 year of Mental Health experience (preferred in the last 5 years)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN)
• 1 year of Mental Health experience in the last 3 years.
