Psychiatric Associate

Fairview is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Mental Health unit! Station 10 serves adults ages 18 years old with a mix of challenging patients, including anxious/depressed and are at risk for self-harm or suicide as well those who have thought disorders, and struggle with managing their lives in the community. Some patients have co-occurring medical issues that broaden the psychiatric associate experience.  Station 10 has many experienced psychiatric associates with a wealth of knowledge to provide new staff.

We are conveniently located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis.

This role is approved for casual hours, with a minimum of (1) 8-hour shift per month, day, evening, or night.

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:

• Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
• Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
• Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.

Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:

• Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
• Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
• Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.

Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:

• Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
• Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.
• Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Basic Life Support Certification - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

 Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field
• Experience working in the mental health field

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
