Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Attendant at the M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center in Princeton, MN! This position is 48 hours every two weeks on the Day shift, for 12 hour shifts, and every third weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more.

About this Unit:
The Emergency Department at Northland Medical Center is a 17‑bed, Level IV trauma center that plays a vital role in serving the Princeton community and surrounding region. The team cares for approximately 25,000 patients each year, managing everything from everyday emergencies to complex cases such as stroke and ECMO transfers. The pace is fast, the teamwork is strong, and the environment offers exposure to a wide range of clinical situations. A Nursing Station Attendant in this ED becomes an essential part of keeping operations running smoothly by supporting patient care, coordinating communication, and maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient care environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic setting and wants to be closely involved in emergency care delivery. This position focuses heavily on the administrative and clerical functions of the Emergency Department, with a softer focus on hands-on patient care.
Job Responsibilities
The Nursing Station Attendant position is responsible for assisting with patient care, performing receptionist duties on the station, and maintaining patient care areas.
Responsibilities
- Assist with receptionist duties:
- Provides oversight of telephone communications within the department
- Transmit information to appropriate personnel
- Record messages
- Assist visitors.
- Maintain department specific sources of information
- Communicate orders to appropriate information source and communicate pending orders/results to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
- Assemble and maintain patient charts:
- Prepare charts for discharge and patient transfer within Northland or other facilities.
- Maintain the patient care area:
- Assure safe, clean and efficient environment on station.
- Maintain desk order.
- Perform cleaning duties on station.
- Monitor, order and stock supplies and equipment.
- Assist with the delivery of patient care:
- Provide care under the direct supervision of a nurse.
- Provide transfer and transport of patients, supplies specimens and/or messages.
- Knowledge of specialty equipment and procedures
- Comfort Rounds
- Glucose Testing
Required Qualifications:
License/Certification/Registration
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
AND ONE or more of the following:
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
Or
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
Or
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
Or
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer experience working with computer applications (e.g. WORD, EPIC, hospital specific software applications) and telephone usage.
