What are the responsibilities and job description for the Moonlighting Nocturnist Psychiatric Physician – 100% Remote Overnight Call position at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to provide fully remote overnight call coverage for Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital, a new 144-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. This is a moonlighting opportunity providing overnight virtual support for acute inpatient psychiatric services. The physician will not be required to come onsite and will deliver care entirely via secure telehealth.
Practice Details:
- Setting: 100% Remote
- Schedule: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM overnight remote call coverage
- Minimum commitment: 2–3 shifts per month
- Compensation: $45/hour
- Admission support and crisis intervention
- Psychotropic medication initiation and adjustments
- Cross-coverage of existing inpatients
- Collaboration with onsite nursing leadership
- Structured handoff to daytime attending physicians
Onboarding & Support:
- Access to EHR training in WellSky
- Behavioral health team orientation
- Supportive credentialing timeline and structured reporting
- Ongoing collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program (required)
- Fellowship training in Addiction, Geriatric, or Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry preferred
- Board Certified/Eligible in Psychiatry (ABMS or AOA)
- Current Minnesota Medical License (MD/DO) and BLS certification

The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills,knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Positions withthe same min/max are flat rate jobs based on 40 hours/week. Compensation plans based on production can allow for higher pay than the range posted.
