What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Medical Lab Scientist - Technical position at Fairview Health Services?
Daily Responsibilities
• Oversees, directs and coordinates Evening shift workload on a daily basis, adjusting schedules as needed and performs processing.
• Personnel Management: Serves as technical resource person to CT staff, other departments and external client providing education, training and problem resolution.
• Equipment: Identify and troubleshoot lab equipment, work with manufacturer to schedule service and assist in the implementation new equipment
• Coordinates timely completion of deviations, CPRs
• Recognizes problems and takes appropriate measures to resolve. Assists in the investigation and resolution of deviations. Identifies corrective and preventative measures.
• Ensure that CT Leadership, care team, and or Sponsors are notified as needed in the event of a patient related problem or laboratory deviation.
Provides Support
• Assists with projects associated with the MainLab. Including execution of validation plans, QC testing, documentation, equipment and materials qualification, data correlation, reports, timelines, and training documents.
• Provides input on staff performance appraisals.
• Awareness CT regulations and Standards - FDA, AABB, FACT, CAP
• Quality monitors – Assists in the completion of proficiency and competencies
• Participate in internal and external audits and inspections
Personal Skills
• Good communications skills, both written and oral.
• Adept at utilizing various computer systems and computer applications: i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Word, Excel, Access, etc.
• Interacts with physicians, intra and inter hospitals, clinics and laboratories, and external clients.
• Demonstrates technical and non-technical knowledge, independent judgement, and critical thinking skills
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications to fulfill position responsibilities
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related science field.
• Certification: Applicant should possess appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (ASCP, NCA, or AMT).
• Minimum of 2 years experience working Medical Laboratory Scientist
• Must be full time (100%) employee.
Preferred Qualification
• Experience working in a Cell Therapy Lab
