M Health Fairview has a new opportunity on the Health Information Management team! Are you experienced in processing Release of Information requests? This is the specialty area for our HIM Representative II opening. This mobile position is mostly work from home, with some onsite tasks at our UMMC West Bank location (2312 S 6th St, Minneapolis) or Southdale(6401 France Avenue S. Edina). We're in search of a new team member who can dedicate 80 hours per 2 weeks (1.0 FTE). This is a Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday, evening shift 2pm-10:30pm opportunity. Responsibilities
This HIM Rep II position performs operational functions to support the completeness, integrity, and privacy of medical record documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Typical functions are:
- serving as a telephone agent for the call center in which verbal requests for records are received and processed, and internal and external customer questions are accurately answered
- responding to written and verbal routine non-billable continuing care, patient, and audit requests in accordance with Fairview policy, federal, state, and other regulatory requirements
- assisting external care providers and/or regulatory surveyors to obtain Fairview health records as needed for urgent patient care or regulatory assessment
- retrieving and distributing paper, microfilm, and microfiche charts to support patient care, and re-file charts and other documents
Qualifications
A thorough understanding of the Release of Information process is integral for success in this position. Required Qualifications include an Associates Degree (HIT Degree or HIM-related certification) or related field OR comparable HIM work experience. A Bachelor's Degree in HIM or more than 2 years HIM experience is highly valued. Preferred certification is RHIT or RHIA.
