What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM Operations Representative III position at Fairview Health Services?
This position provides team support for key functions within the HIM Department to help assure the smooth functioning of staff, processes, and systems. Functions as subject matter expert, working with leaders and front-line staff. Responsible for communicating analysis and audit results to medical staff, resolving chart completion barriers, and ensuring the accuracy of the patient database and health record. Timely and accurate processing of all work is essential.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a thorough understanding of Epic and physician processes to complete deficiencies daily to identify and resolve barriers to the timely completion of health records.
- Generates and monitors the deficiency notification process daily for medical record completion.
- Perform chart audits to assure appropriate completion of medical record data elements.
- Monitors the accuracy of the master patient index (MPI) daily and accurately resolves duplicate patient health records so clinicians have all relevant information in the correct record to support safe, efficient patient care.
- Monitors for error trends by performing root cause analysis to facilitate staff training as needed.
Required Qualifications
- A.A./A.S. health information management or related field. Two (2) years of experience in an applicable health information management department may substitute for an associate degree.
- 3 years Health Information Management, medical office, or comparable work experience or education.
- Working knowledge in EHR and/or scanning/imaging processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. health information management
- HIT degree
- 4 years Health Information Management
- RHIT or
- RHIA
