What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Acute Care Pharmacy (UMMC) position at Fairview Health Services?
The Director of Acute Care Pharmacy Services employs expert knowledge of pharmacy operations, solid leadership, and quality improvement skills to execute the objectives of complex pharmacy services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) – East and West Bank locations. This includes a consistently excellent patient experience, outcomes that meet or exceed quality standards including financial targets, a culture of employee engagement and ongoing organizational and regulatory compliance. This role works collaboratively with site leaders, system leaders and other stakeholders to identify, develop and implement clinical programs and medication services in accordance with site and pharmacy services goals and growth opportunities. This role supports our UMMC location which has the highest acuity patients in the system on the most complex medication therapies. UMMC is the only location in the system to provide cell and gene therapies and the only one with an ECMO program (both adult and pediatric). UMMC pharmacy also provides most hospital investigational drug therapies, as well as the largest number of pharmacy residency programs and student experiential education experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate of Pharmacy
- 5 years of pharmacy leadership/management experience or 3 years leadership/management plus the completion of an ASHP-accredited Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency
- MN Pharmacy License
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in Business Admin Advanced degree in health sciences or business (MS, MHA, MPH)
- ASHP-accredited Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency
- 5 years of pharmacy leadership/management experience in an academic medical center
