Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Photographer (Level 4) will capture photos and video that represent the qualities and values of Fairmont State University and will work independently and directly with the Photo and Video Services Manager to provide fully produced photographic or video content of superior quality. Students fulfilling this position must exhibit a mastery of the operation of equipment and practice.
Responsibilities include:
Marketing Photographer
• Schedule marketing oriented photo shoots on or around campus
• Capture photographs that align with the university brand and values and that showcase our
students and campus in a positive light
• Recruit a diverse group of student models (create awareness for the need for student models and build relationships with potential student models)
• Schedule students as needed and set dress code expectations for photo/video shoots
Event Photographer
• Provide primary photography at campus events
Campus-Life Photographer
• Carry a camera and capture photos/videos from the perspective of a student at Fairmont State
University
Portrait Photographer• Coordinate headshot sessions upon request from the Photos and Video Services Manager
• Headshots - photograph employees, students or those requested in the Photo Studio
• Environmental Portraits - photograph employees, students or those requested in a natural environment
Minimum Qualifications
• Only students with adequate experience (as deemed so by the Photo and Video Services Manager) and an exemplary portfolio will be considered for this position.
• Demonstrate proficiency in digital photography and composition
• Availability to attend some campus events, may require some night and weekend availability.
• Prompt, prepared and dressed appropriately when providing photography services
• Strong communication skills with peers and university community
• Exemplifies strong time management and organizational skills.
• Willingness to appear in public spaces and with large crowds
• Able to safely lift and carry 10-15 lbs
• Willingness to understand and comply with campus branding and aesthetic
