Position Summary:The Student Assistant to the President's Office provides essential administrative, logistical, and project-based support to ensure smooth and professional operations within a high-profile executive office. This role is ideal for a motivated student with strong communication and organizational skills, a high level of discretion, and an interest in leadership, public service, or administration.
- Provide planning and logistical support for Presidential Events including but not limited to Fairmont State Day at the Capitol and Day of Giving.
- Ensure strict confidentiality and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Conduct research and prepare background information, summaries, or briefing documents for projects and initiatives assigned by the President or senior staff.
- Contribute to special projects as needed.
- Draft, proofread, and edit, reports and internal documents.
- Maintain organized, secure filing systems for both digital and physical documents.
- Assist with various administrative tasks and including maintaining an organized office environment.
- Greet and assist visitors with professionalism, ensuring a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for all guests.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Fairmont State University
- Professional demeanor
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Discretion, integrity, and reliability in handling confidential matters
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Experience in office administration, event planning, or research is a plus
Notes to Applicant
Work Schedule:
- Up to 20 hours per week
- Must be available during standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Final schedule will be determined based on student availability and office needs
