SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Transportation Director, this position assists in the daily operations of the Transportation Department, ensuring efficient use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. Helps maintain proper records in compliance with DODD and DOT regulations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assures that all vehicles have valid registration, inspection (if required), insurance card, and accident packet
- Assures compliance with DODD, State, and company requirements. This includes providing valid copies of employee credentials to the Transportation Director when they are requested
- Prepares and prints weekly time sheets, route tally sheets, vehicle inspection forms, and route summaries for distribution to the drivers
- Collects required weekly documents from drivers to be submitted to the proper departments before deadlines.
- Assures vehicles are in working condition and reports major defects to the Transportation Director
- Assists with DODD and safety training for drivers
- Assures compliance with policies, procedures, safety rules, governmental regulations, DODD and PUCO regulations
- Assures compliance with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements
- Assures scheduling of vehicles, routes and drivers is completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Acts as substitute driver or aide if necessary
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS:
- High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor or associate degree in related field preferred
- 2 years’ experience in transportation or logistics-related business preferred
- Must be able to travel to other UNA locations
- Knowledge of DODD and DOT regulations for transporting clients
- Self-starter and problem solver with ability to think outside the box
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to adapt to changes and spur of the moment decision-making
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and move objects. Must be able to stoop, stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit to use computer and/or calculator and telephone. Eyesight capabilities must be sufficient to perform these functions. Hearing must be adequate to perform these functions. Must be physically able to lift, carry and move individuals in a safe manner, which includes wheelchairs according to in-service training.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability
- Pass criminal background check
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
- Pass pre-employment physical exam; must renew DOT physical periodically
- Complete all DODD training requirements
- Complete CPR, AED, and first aid training
FLSA: Hourly non-exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: 40 Hours Per Week, Mon - Fri approx 7am-3pm
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 90 Days
