Childcare Worker
This position is part-time working 6-7 hours weekly on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30PM.
This position is responsible for interactive play with children at Fairgrove Family Resource Center using age-appropriate activities and toys. This individual must remain actively involved with the children to ensure their safety and well-being while at our center.
The Child Care staff member also helps prepare the facility for the family meal. This includes serving the family meal to the participant parent and children attending the program. The staff member works with other childcare staff members to clean their rooms and eating area after the children have left for the evening.
After the meal at 6:30, the child care staff will take the children in their care to the child care rooms. For the remainder of the evening, the Childcare staff member will actively interact with the children in their care. It is essential for the children to be in a safe, positive and interactive environment focused on child centered activities and positive reinforcement of good behavior.
The Childcare staff member must sanitize the toys and clean their room after the children leave for the evening.
This position must work cohesively at all times with coworkers and supervisors.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
Safe, positive, interactive play with children is the key responsibility for this position. Additional job responsibilities include:
Assist staff with implementing both short- term and long-range goals with children in accordance with curriculum objectives while constantly reinforcing positive behavior.
Techniques taught to parents need to be modeled with children in our care including, but not limited to, positive commenting, interactive play, and when necessary, correct implementation of appropriate discipline techniques.
Maintain open, respectful communication with parents and coworkers.
Respect and maintain confidentiality.
Report any suspected child abuse to supervisor.
Arrange the classroom environment considering age and developmental stages of children.
Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Inspect and report any damaged or lost materials to Child Care Program Facilitator.
Attend staff meetings and training as requested by supervisor.
Comply with all applicable licensing regulations.
Keep all appropriate records such as child sign in sheet, weekly attendance and time sheets.
Good employee hygiene is essential and is a strict requirement for employment.
Support your co-workers with consideration and mutual respect. Support must be modeled by staff members with each other and children.
A minimum of 3-weeks’ notice must be given by employees resigning from position for consideration of a positive reference.
Minor children of employees are not permitted on site unless approved in advance by the Executive Director
Candidate must be able to pass National background check.
Candidate must not be on National Sex Registry
Candidate must supply 3 references for employment consideration.
Qualifications and Skills
A minimum of 2 years childcare education and/or experience is required.
